Things are shaping up nicely for one of Seacoast United’s newest regions, MA South. After hosting its first ever Academy ID Clinic at the Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, MA the other week, some of the teams are starting to test themselves against the best in the region.
Seacoast United 09 Boys MA South were given the opportunity over the weekend to play their first ever game in the U12 Pre-Academy League. The league is designed to prepare players and teams for the full Boys’ Academy League which starts at the U13 age group.
Thirteen players were called in to represent Seacoast United, with four hailing from the South Shore and a further nine players from the Boston region. The team, coached by MA South Boys Director, Martin Doherty, got off to a dream start after overcoming local divisional rivals, Valeo Football Club, 3-2 in a highly competitive match.
"This was a great opportunity to see where our players' might fit in, within the prestigious Pre-Academy League" stated Doherty. " The boys' were a little nervous to start with but soon settled down against a very solid opponent", added Doherty. Daragh Hume scored twice, including the winner, while Brady Hanson netted the other.
Boys’ Academy Director, Peter Decker, recently organized the regions very first ID event, resulting in the boys being selected this past weekend. ‘Both myself and Director of Soccer, Iain Scott, are very excited to see the level of talent on the South Shore. We are confident that the very best players in this region will help strengthen the top of our existing development structure."
